Basic Information About Breast Cancer
At Noche Y Dia we have been placing a huge focus on Think Pink October throughout this month. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and we wanted to take the time to share some information with you.
For instance, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their life, and 85% of those women will have no family history of it. So, while there may be a low chance of you developing breast cancer, anyone CAN get breast cancer. Cancer does not discriminate.
Breast cancer is also the most common form of cancer in women.
The most influential risk factors are gender and age. Doctors will diagnose an estimated 271,000 new cases of breast cancer over the next year.
Luckily, medical treatments have evolved and more women are successfully fighting back.
However, here are some risk factors that have been identified: Inactivity/ sedimentary lifestyle, high levels of alcohol consumption, exposure to radiation, and obesity. All of these factors can increases your risk, along with a family history of breast cancer.
The main takeaway from this, however, is that early detection systems are still continuing to improve. The earlier doctors detect breast cancer, the better. That is when breast cancer is easiest treated. Breast cancer only becomes more difficult when it is found later in its stages.
Early detection is life-saving.
