A Little Cinco de Mayo Spice… for Your Skin

You know I love a good reason to celebrate (especially when snacks are involved). But while everyone else is thinking about tacos and tequila this Cinco de Mayo, I’ve got a little twist for you…

Let’s give your skin a reason to party, too.

Now I’ll be honest — I’m not the kind of woman who spends hours whipping up homemade beauty concoctions (I mean, I’ve got laundry to do and a glass of wine to pour). But sometimes, a little kitchen DIY can feel fun — especially when it actually works.

So if your skin’s feeling a little dry, dull, or “meh” lately, here are 3 easy recipes I actually use when I want to spice things up without adding a whole new routine.

1. 🌶️ Plumping Cinnamon + Honey Lip Scrub

Let’s talk lips.

As we get older, our lips lose volume and those fine lines start creeping in — especially if you’ve spent a few years sipping from straws or, like me, squinting at your phone at night 🙈

This quick scrub boosts circulation (thanks to the cinnamon) and leaves lips soft, smooth, and looking a little fuller.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 tsp honey (natural humectant = hello hydration)

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp brown sugar (gently buffs away dead skin)

How to use:

Mix everything together, massage onto your lips for 30 seconds, and rinse with warm water. Follow up with your favorite lip balm. 💋

🧠 Why it works:

Cinnamon stimulates blood flow (so you get a subtle plumping effect), and honey + sugar smooth and soften. It’s perfect before lipstick — or if you just want your lips to feel alive again!

2. 🥑 Guac-Glow Hydrating Mask

Okay, so technically you could eat this… but your skin will love it even more.

This is my go-to when my skin feels tight, flaky, or just kind of lifeless.

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 ripe avocado (full of skin-loving fats)

  • 1 tsp olive oil (locks in moisture)

  • Optional: 1 tsp plain yogurt (for gentle exfoliation)

How to use:

Mash it all together, smooth onto clean skin, and leave it on for 10–15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

🧠 Why it works:

Avocados are rich in healthy fats and vitamin E, which help nourish dry, aging skin. Olive oil adds that dewy glow, and yogurt (if you add it) gives a little gentle exfoliation without irritating sensitive areas.

💡 My tip: I focus this mask on my cheeks and jawline — the spots where my skin tends to feel thinnest and driest.

3. 🦶Spicy Cayenne Foot Soak

Alright — this one sounds a little out there, but hear me out.

Adding just a pinch of cayenne pepper to warm water helps boost circulation, ease puffiness, and revive tired feet (especially if you’ve been standing a lot or, like me, trying to break in a pair of sandals you had no business buying 😅).

What you’ll need:

  • Warm water

  • A pinch (and I mean pinch!) of cayenne pepper

  • A few drops of lavender or eucalyptus oil if you’re feelin’ fancy

How to use:

Soak your feet for 10–15 minutes. Then rinse, pat dry, and follow with your favorite foot cream.

🧠 Why it works:

Cayenne contains capsaicin, which helps stimulate blood flow — and that’s great for reducing swelling, improving circulation, and warming cold toes. (Just don’t overdo it — I made that mistake once. Not fun.)

But What If You’re Not a DIY Girl? 😅

Let’s be real: some days, playing kitchen chemist sounds fun... and other days, you're just trying to get through the week without avocado in your hair. (True story. Don’t ask.)

If you love the idea of these recipes but want something that’s already ready to go — here are two Noche favorites that give you that same glow-up, no mixing bowls required:

🥑 Instead of the avocado mask

Try the Ocean Caviar Face Cream – It’s rich, nourishing, and perfect for dry, mature skin. Think of it as your ready-made guac glow (minus the cleanup).

👉 Shop the Cream

🦶 Instead of the cayenne foot soak

Use the Soothing Foot Cream – It calms and revives tired feet after a long day. No tingling, no spicy surprises — just soft, happy soles.

👉 Pamper Your Feet

Let Me Know If You Try These!

Seriously — if you give one a go, let me know!

Did you feel the tingle from the cinnamon? Did the avocado make your skin feel like velvet? Did the cayenne surprise you?

These little experiments are fun, but what I really love is knowing what you think.

You deserve skin that feels as good as it looks — whether that comes from a ripe avocado or a jar of Noche. 💛
