Your No-Makeup Makeup Glow for Summer
Hey there, beautiful!
June’s here, and honestly, my biggest goal is to look put-together without feeling like my face is sliding off by noon. When the weather heats up, layering on heavy makeup? No thanks. It’s all about keeping things fresh, light, and glowing without the fuss.
Here’s what I’ve learned over the years to keep my summer glow game strong — whether you’re wearing just a little makeup or none at all.
1. Start with skincare 🧴
Skincare is the real foundation. Always. Healthy, hydrated skin means you need less makeup to feel confident.
Don’t skip the moisturizer, even when it’s hot. Your skin needs that hydration to look and feel its best.
2. Prime (if you want it to last) 🧊
A light primer can work wonders—especially if you’re going out or know you’ll be in the sun.
-
If you get shiny in the T-zone, go for a mattifying primer just on the forehead, nose, and chin.
-
If your skin feels dry or textured, try a hydrating primer with a bit of radiance.
It smooths everything out so your next step goes on like silk.
3. Even out—don’t cover up ✨
This is your “base,” but think sheer, breathable, and radiant.
-
Tinted moisturizer or BB cream with light coverage is your best friend.
-
Or just dab concealer under the eyes, around the nose, and on any dark spots.
Pro tip: Look for warm, golden undertones (like soft beige or honey) to bring life to mature skin. Always go cream over powder—it moves better with your skin.
And remember, you’re not covering up—you’re letting your skin shine through. 😉
4. Add warmth + color where you want it 🎨
The trick is choosing creamy textures that melt into the skin.
-
Cream blush on the apples of your cheeks (or slightly higher for a lifted look). Try soft rose, peach, or warm coral.
-
A touch of bronzer (cream or liquid) around the hairline and cheekbones adds glow without shimmer.
-
Feeling fancy? A balm highlighter on the tops of cheeks—just a dab! Not glitter, not frosty. Think dewy.
The goal is that fresh, dewy look—like you just stepped off a beach breeze, not melted in the sun.
5. Define your eyes (just a little) 👁️
Even when I skip everything else, a little eye polish makes me feel more put-together.
-
Brows: fill in with a pencil or tinted gel to define without looking drawn on.
-
Mascara: always waterproof in the summer. Brown-black is softer and flattering.
-
Skip eyeshadow, or use a cream shadow in a soft taupe or bronze if you want a little definition.
6. Easy lips = instant finish 💋
Summer lips should feel effortless, not fussy.
-
Use a tinted balm or hydrating lipstick in shades like rosy nude, soft berry, or sheer coral.
-
Bonus: a gloss balm with SPF feels great and protects delicate lip skin.
7. Set it (the soft way) 🍰
No need to cake on powder—especially in warm weather.
-
Use setting spray to lock things in and give a natural finish.
-
Or use a soft blotting powder (just in the T-zone) to reduce shine without making skin look dry.
8. Refresh during the day 🌤️
Here’s what I keep in my bag during summer:
-
Blotting papers (they’re a lifesaver)
-
A mini face mist with SPF
-
My lip color of the day
-
A compact mirror—because I’m not 22 and I like to know what my face is doing 😆
So there you have it—your no-makeup makeup glow for summer.
So… is it still a no-makeup glow?
Absolutely. ✨
This kind of glow isn’t about wearing no makeup—it’s about using just enough to enhance your features without covering them up. You’re letting your skin breathe, shine through, and do most of the talking.
It’s light. It’s effortless. It’s summer. 🌞
You’ll feel polished, confident, and still like you… even if the sun is doing its best to melt you by 10 AM.

Hey, Kathy! Glad to hear you’ve got your skincare routine down pat. You don’t want to skip the serum, especially on hot days. Using a serum will help refresh your skin during hot weather and keep it hydrated. If you’re worried about layering on too many products, I get it! But serums are typically lightweight and absorb rather quickly into the skin, so there’s no need to worry!
My routine is wash face / swipe with toner/
Use “your” vitamin C serum / lightweight moisturizer with sunscreen… Should I omit serum on hot days ?
