5 Ways to Honor Veterans this Veterans Day
On Veterans Day we honor the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much to ensure the freedom of this country. On November 11th, we are able to show the appreciation that our veterans deserve all year round.
There are plenty of ways that you can show your appreciation to our veterans to honor their service. Here are 5 ideas to help you honor our heroes this Veterans Day.
1. Say “Thank You!”
You likely know a couple of veterans, they might be a coworker, a neighbor, or even a family member. Telling a veteran “thank you” is such an easy way to show appreciation to the veterans in your life.
2. Donate to a Cause That Supports the Military
Whether you have a $1 to spare or $100, a donation to an organization that supports veterans and the military is a great way to show thanks. Some great organizations are the USO and the Wounded Warrior Project.
3. Support a Veteran-Owned Business
The Census Bureau estimates that there are around 2.5 million businesses around the United States that are veteran-owned. You could do a quick search and look for businesses in your area or online stores where you can support those businesses.
4. Attend a Veterans Day Virtual Event
With the Covid-19 pandemic there likely won’t be local parades like in years previous. Yet, there are plenty of ways to honor veterans and all you need is a quick internet search. Take a look at virtual opportunities in your community, or national ones that companies are hosting.
5. Volunteer!
There is so much that our veterans have done for us, it is always a great idea to give back! With a quick search on the internet you can find local or virtual opportunities to help veterans in your area.
