How to Plan a Successful Picnic
The sun is shining, and everybody in your household wants to head outdoors. Without a doubt, there is no better way to enjoy alfresco eating that becomes an obsession when the weather warms up than with a perfect picnic. But how do you ensure your picnic is successful? Below are some tips to help you out:
Plan Carefully
One of the top tips for a successful picnic is to plan carefully. Look at the number of people you will tag along with and determine the amount of food you will need. If you carry too much, then you will have to carry it all back. If you carry too little, no one will have their hunger satisfied and will likely get hangry. Therefore, plan all meals and make sure you take enough.
Embrace Simplicity
A picnic doesn’t have to be complicated to be successful. Go for simple recipes, and ensure all foods not too heavy to carry. Also, don’t go for the fancy plates and cups in your collection. Instead, opt for disposable cutlery and plates, which are highly convenient and easier to carry.
Keep It Cool
Even though big picnic baskets look fancy, they are heavy to carry around and might not keep food at a great temperature. To minimize any inconvenience of carrying a bulky basket, or having your foods at incorrect temperatures pack your food in insolated bags or coolers. If you have the time, put bottles of water and other drinks in the freezer a few hours before the picnic. They will double up as chiller blocks to keep your food cold, and the drinks will also be hard when you reach your picnic spot.
Know What to Take
There are things that you need to carry for a successful picnic. They include:
- A reliable bug spray
- Bags to carry trash to ensure you leave your picnic spot better than you found it.
- Hand wipes and napkins
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Blanket for sitting
- Bottled beverages
- A small knife for slicing fruits or cheese
- Wine or bottle opener if you’re getting fancy
- Ice packs
